Holidays and Days of Observance
The following policies apply to work-learning assignments on days of observance, holidays, and breaks throughout the year.
Days of Observance
- Mountain Day: Work-learning assignments are suspended for the day so students can participate in activities. Only positions with duties essential to a department's operations, as defined under Essential Roles, will continue as scheduled.
- Work College Program Professional Development Day: Work-learning assignments are suspended for the day so students can participate in activities. Only Essential Roles will continue as scheduled.
- All Peoples of the Earth Day: Work-learning assignments are suspended for the day so students can participate in activities. Only Essential Roles will continue as scheduled.
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Students work their regular schedule, though participation in campus events is encouraged.
Holidays
- Good Friday: Work-learning assignments are suspended for the day. Only Essential Roles will continue as scheduled.
- Memorial Day: Work-learning assignments are suspended for the day. Only Essential Roles will continue as scheduled.
- Juneteenth: Work-learning assignments are suspended for the day. Only Essential Roles will continue as scheduled.
- Independence Day: Work-learning assignments are suspended for the day. Only Essential Roles will continue as scheduled.
- Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring Breaks: Regular-term work-learning assignments are suspended. Students working during these breaks must have a separate Break Contract.
Other
- Reading Period and Final Exams: Students work their normal hours during reading periods. During final exams week, hours are worked "as arranged" between the student and supervisor.
