PHY 485 Materials Physics

Prerequisites: PHY 320 and MAT 225 or permission of instructor

An introduction to the synthesis, structure, properties, and application of solid materials, including applications to microelectronics, polymers, and energy technology. In particular, the course explores how the crystalline and molecular structure of materials can be related to electronic, optical, thermal, and mechanical properties. Four one-hour lectures each week.
