MUS 221 Aural Harmony I

Prerequisite: MUS 118 or passing Music Theory Placement Exam

The relationship between the printed musical symbol and its auditory representation. The 'musical ear' is developed through the sight-singing of simple melodies, intervals, scales, and rhythmic patterns. Brief exercises in melodic and rhythmic dictation and conducting patterns. Three periods per week. Usually taken in conjunction with MUS 220
