Richnesses
Three Richness Areas, Four Courses – All Four Courses Required
Individual course may be approved to satisfy one or more Richness. No single course will be approved to satisfy more than one Value or one Way of Knowing. Each course counts only once in the earned-credit minimum needed to graduate (either within the major, or 20 outside of major requirement). A course may have one Way of Knowing, one Value, and one or more Richness.
International - The same course cannot satisfy both the International Richness & the Beyond the Borders Value
International rich courses promote a deeper understanding of global citizenship by exploring the perspectives and ways of life of societies and cultures that extend beyond the national borders of the United States. This Richness includes coursework in foreign languages and study abroad. Language waivers do not satisfy any aspect of the International requirement.
Quantitative - The same course cannot satisfy both the Quantitative Way of Knowing & the Quantitative Richness
Quantitative Rich courses expand the study and application of numerical, mathematical, and statistical methods. Classes with this richness appear across the curriculum and consider the application of quantitative reasoning to real world problems.
Writing – Students must take two courses for the writing rich requirement
Writing Rich courses further develop students writing skills through a deeper engagement in process, production, and refinement of their writing. These classes come from a range of disciplinary approaches: analytical and argumentative, objective or subjective, lyrical or concise.
